How do I change my background color?

The Blogdrive layout templates are custom designed as appose to having a (boring) generic design with an easy to change background. Instead, many of our designs use images to create graphic containers (that expand and contract based on content) which are used in combination with a background color. This gives a far more professional and creative look to your Blog right out of the box.

However, there is a downside. Sometimes (depending on your layout selection) simply changing a background color on a custom design can often lead to undesirable results; because you will not be changing the overall background color, but the color that is used in conjunction with images. With that said, here is what you do:

From your Layout & Design area. Click on “Main template edit”. Depending on your layout selection, you will see some CSS near the top of the page, looking something like this:

background-color: #FFFFFF;
font-family : verdana, arial, helvetica;
font-size : 8pt;
color : #333333;
margin-left: 0;
margin-top: 0;
margin-right: 0;
margin-bottom: 0;

This is the body section of your CSS. It governs many basic things about your design. What you need to change is the hexadecimal value in the “background-color” section. The example above uses #FFFFFF (white). Here are some others you can use in it’s place:

Red #FF0000
Green #00FF00
Blue #0000FF
Black #000000
Grey #888888
Yellow #FFFF00
Cyan #00FFFF

Remember, you may need to change many other values in your CSS and HTML to make your Blog look just the way you desire. Blogdrive allows you to change everything. If you destroy the Main template, you can always reload another template and all will be right in the world again.
